Would you like to hear some easy weight loss tips?
Someone once said to me, “Do you know what the secret is to flying?” When I confessed that I didn’t, he leaned over conspiratorially and whispered in my ear, “Throw yourself at the ground … and miss.”
Seriously though, don’t you think it would be so much easier to lose weight if you could simply quit eating food like you can quit smoking? Unfortunately, as this is not an option we need to come up with some alternative ideas.
Here are 11 easy weight loss tips that should help you achieve your weight loss goals.
Start with a Clean Slate
to clean your colon. Without a clean colon, almost every weight loss program you try will fail or at the very least, be less effective. A clean colon will flatten your stomach, help you lose weight and, as a bonus, make your skin look its best.
The above link will take you to a FREE 30 Day Trial of an exceptionally good Colon Cleanse program from the people at Organic Research.
Plan Sensible Meals
By sensible meals I mean a meal that is low in fat and sugar, includes fibre and raw vegetables, and some protean and carbohydrates. I talk about this in more depth on my page
Nutrition Concepts.
You can vary your meal choices but remember to gradually wean yourself away from the large portions that have become the norm in our society today.
Choose Healthy snacks
At times you may feel hungry between meals especially if you are following my suggestion to reduce your portions. Make sure you have plenty of raw fruits and vegetables on hand to fill this void and limit your snacks to 2 per day.
Create a Vision of Yourself Looking Good and Feeling Healthy
Have you heard the theory that you become what you think? Make sure you have a clear picture of yourself as you will be when you have accomplished your weight loss goals.
- How will you look?
- How will you feel?
- What activities will the new you be able to enjoy?
Keep this image clearly in your mind and think about it daily. If nothing else, it will increase your desire to attain your goals.
Drink 8 Glasses of Water Every Day
I am sure you have heard this one. Drinking water helps your body function and encourages weight loss. Dehydration can affect your metabolism and sabotage your weight loss efforts.
Besides the negative affect it has on your system, many Americans mistake thirst for hunger.
Try this test the next time you feel hunger. Instead of eating some food, have a glass of water. You may be surprised to find your hunger pangs diminish.
Eliminate Carbonated Beverages
Typically, carbonated beverages are high in sugar and there is a link between their consumption and increased diabetes and obesity rates.
Carbonation also kills enzymes and the friendly intestinal bacteria needed for healthy digestion and immunity. See my page
Nutrition Concepts
for additional information on carbonated beverages.
Don’t Eat 3 Hours Before Bed Time
Of course you've heard that your metabolism drops significantly at night. If your body does not need to use the calories for energy, what do you think it will do with them? Right, your body will store them as fat. Not cool.
Break the habit of snacking in front of your TV in the evening. This will become a very good life style change for the future, after you have attained your goals.
Add Physical Activity
Get out and walk, swim, dance, ride a bike … anything that will interrupt your sedentary way of life. Your body will love you for it.
CAUTION! If your body is not used to exercise DO NOT take on a strenuous exercise program right away. The important thing here is to just get out and move.
Gradually increase your activity level until you feel like becoming more serious. Then discuss your plans with your doctor.
Once you begin a serious program, consider including some weight training three times a week to convert fat into muscle. Make sure you alternate days to let the cells of your body recover between work outs.
| Note: Some people think they can get away with alternating muscle groups instead of training days. This is not true.
Remember, your body is a dynamic machine that works in synergy. It is best to work all the muscles of your body on the same day then let them rest for a day. |

Take Nutritional Supplements
Modern diets no longer meet adequate daily nutritional requirements. Nutrient deficiencies leave us susceptible to infections, obesity and disease.

Treat Yourself
This will probably be your favourite of all the weight loss tips I can give you. Make a list of 4-5 foods that you really enjoy and schedule them in as a break from your diet. You’ve worked hard and you deserve a break.
Please don’t use this as an excuse to binge eat when you feel you need to take a break. This will lead you down the path to failure.
Instead plan for it so that it is a reward and not an escape. Then immediately return to your structured routine feeling good about yourself rather than guilty for your indulgence.
Control Your Eating Impulses
I remember when my dad would eat a peppermint whenever he felt the need to smoke a cigarette.
This is probably not the best example given what we are trying to accomplish here but my point is you can control your urges by replacing them with healthy alternatives to get them off your mind.
Go for a walk, visit a friend, or dive into a project you have been meaning to complete. Behaviour modification like this must take place in order for you to be successful long term.
