Systemic Enzymes

Most of the enzymes manufactured by your body are known as Systemic Enzymes. Sometimes referred to as metabolic enzymes, they are responsible for the maintenance of your blood, tissues and organs.

To give you an idea of the variety of functions they affect, some of the tasks they perform are to ensure:

  • your heart beats are regular,
  • your vision and hearing remain sharp,
  • your muscles relax and contract properly,
  • your hormones are being produced and are in balance, and
  • they also supply the neurotransmitters that support your memory and mood
In fact, this class of enzymes functions in every cell of your body.
  • they support cellular growth and repair,
  • they create cellular fuel from carbohydrates, proteins and fats
  • they remove worn-out material from your cells

Suffering from High Cholesterol? Your enzyme bank is probably low because they are responsible for clearing out unhealthy LDL cholesterol from your blood.

Why is This Important?

You are probably wondering, “If these enzymes are manufactured by my body, why should I be concerned about them?”

The answer is quite simple. Several things can stall or stop the process in its tracks.

Under ideal circumstances your body should be able to maintain the production of all the enzymes it needs. But if it uses up its “bank account” it will not be able to heal itself.

Your body has a limit to the amount of enzymes it can produce in your lifetime. This means we need the enzymes in the food we eat to assist our digestive process.

Unfortunately, as discussed on my page Replace Missing Nutrients, we no longer obtain enough nutrition from our foods to supplement our body’s nutrition bank.

If the required digestive enzymes are not present in the food you eat, your body must dip into its enzyme bank in order to continue the digestive process. Often this means depleting your reserves and your body's ability to regenerate.

For a more complete review of the problems that result in a deficiency of systemic enzymes please see my section on Nutrition Importance.
