The Magic of Enzymes
Why use Enzymes for Cellular Delivery?
Because they cause the breakdown and delivery of the nutrients in the food we eat and ...
…..“It’s not just what we eat, but what we digest that determines our health”.
A Nutritional Breakthrough
In 1932, Dr Edward Howell, the founder of the National Enzyme Company, announced his discovery of the principles of Enzyme Nutrition.
Until his death (at the age of 93) in 1988, he was involved in researching and teaching about the vital role they play in nutrition and human health.
"Enzymes are substances which make life possible. They are needed for every chemical reaction that occurs in the body. Without them, no activity at all would take place. Neither vitamins, minerals or hormones can do any work without enzymes." The Status of Food Enzymes in Digestion and Metabolism by Dr Edward Howell.
Dr Howell's principle states that a
full complement
of digestive enzymes must be ingested along with food in order to deliver the full nutritional value to the cells in your body.
To further reinforce this fact, we have learned in recent years that food, not digested completely, can become a toxin rather than a nutrient. thereby causing conditions we now refer to as food allergies.
Because of Dr Howell’s research, we have learned how to precisely combine the nutrients with the exact combination of enzymes needed to deliver nutrients to your cells.
The resulting process gives natural supplementation the essential characteristics (highest nutritional value) of whole, fresh food.
Delivery is the Key
Many people, like you, concerned with “eating right," do not realize the importance of insuring food nutrients are made available at the cellular level.
Many supplement companies also forget this very important principle, or worse, choose to ignore it in their pursuit of profit.
They concoct their formulas without regard to how your body will react. In order to be effective, food nutrients must be digested, broken down and delivered to the individual cells of your body.
Bonding is the Method
Building on the work of Dr Howell, the internationally acclaimed mineral nutrition scientist, Dr Harvey Ashmead provided us with the next breakthrough in cellular nutrition.
Dr Ashmead researched methods of
bonding amino acids
to minerals resulting in several patents on a chelated mineral process that produced the most efficiently assimilated form of mineral supplementation.
Dr Ashmead pointed out that enzymes require minerals as co-factors to reach their full activity and that the highest level of nutrient delivery could be achieved by utilizing chelated minerals as co-factors in our
delivery system.
So, why is a cellular delivery system such as this necessary?
Because your body’s natural processes call for coordinated enzymes and minerals to be present in order for nutrients to be delivered to its individual cells.
You may be surprised to learn that this delivery process actually has it’s beginnings right in your mouth.

But, what can enzymes do for you? Let’s check out
how they are used in nutrition therapy
to find out, shall we?
The Nature of Enzymes
There are three main types of enzymes. The first two can be produced by your body but the third we must get from plants.
- Systemic (metabolic)
These enzymes are responsible for the maintenance of your blood, cells, tissues and organs. A shortfall of these enzymes coild have serious affects on your health.

- Digestive
To convert proteins, carbohydrates and fats into smaller & simpler biochemical substances that your body can actually use.
-
Amylases
in the saliva start the digestion of sugars and starches even before they reach the stomach.
- Pepsins in the stomach split some peptide bonds which hold all protein molecules together.
-
Proteases
and peptidases of the pancreas complete protein digestion
-
Lipases
of the pancreas digest fats and oils.
- Amylases of the pancreas complete the digestion of sugars and starches in the intestines.
- Food
All uncooked foods contain food enzymes which correspond to the type of nutrients provided. They help us pre-digest the food. Unfortunately our food preparation processes destroy these enzymes.
