The B2 Vitamin (Riboflavin)

Custom Search

The B2 Vitamin, also known as riboflavin, works together with other B vitamins to process calories from carbohydrates, protein and fat. It assists your body with red cell production and growth as well as healthy skin and vision.

Riboflavin will partner up with thiamin (B1) to play a key role in periodontal health and, if you also throw in folate and Vitamin B12, may also play a protective role in cervical health.

Symptoms of a Vitamin B2 Deficiency

Because there is a plentiful supply of Riboflavin in our food supply, a deficiency of this vitamin is rare in North America.

Symptoms would include skin rashes, sensitivity to light and cracks in the corners of the mouth.

Any shortage should be addressed using a multi-vitamin supplement or vitamin B complex.

Where can you obtain Vitamin B2

  • Riboflavin-enriched breads and cereals,
